Free school transport is available in Perth and Kinross to pupils attending their catchment school and living more than two miles (primary) or three miles (secondary) from the school measured by the shortest available walking route. If you think that your child may be entitled to school transport, the application form is available here: http://www.pkc.gov.uk/CHttpHandler.ashx?id=10244&p=0
We suggest that children who are going to travel on the school bus do so from the start as it helps them settle in more quickly. If your child usually travels home by bus, but is not going to be travelling on a particular day, please try to let the driver and/or the school know. This avoids any confusion when, at the end of the school day, all pupils getting the bus are taken to it by a member of staff and checked off the list.
For insurance purposes, no pupil may travel on the school bus unless they hold a valid season ticket. This means that if you are having another child home, and they do not normally get the bus, they cannot accompany your child on the bus.
Fossoway Primary School is situated on a narrow lane, and parents will appreciate that this can make pick-up and drop-off times congested and potentially dangerous for pedestrians. We encourage all parents who drive their children to school to park behind the Village Hall and walk their children down to the school, using the pedestrian crossing on the main road.
Parents who do choose to park on the road beside the school should at all times ensure that they do not
- block driveways
- impede the movement of traffic
- park on the zig-zagged area next to the school
- mount the kerb for any reason
- otherwise endanger pupils leaving and arriving at school
Fossoway school car park has a limited number of spaces, and priority is given to staff, visiting staff, and those on school business. In addition, nursery parents are permitted to use the car park when picking up or dropping off nursery children. Please note also that the school buses use the car park to pick up and drop off pupils, and you may not park in the designated bus bays during school start and finish times. Finally, if you do use the car park at any time, do not park outwith marked bays. This impedes the entry and exit of other cars, and reduces visibility for children and parents in the area.
PLEASE KEEP YOUR SPEED TO WALKING PACE IN AND AROUND THE SCHOOL. CHILDREN’S ACTIONS ARE UNPREDICTABLE, AND THEIR THOUGHTS ARE NOT ALWAYS ON ROAD SAFETY.
